Several years ago I came across a altar for sale in Virginia that had been converted into a wet bar. IT was a beautifully crafted 1870s carved oak altar dedicated to St Joseph from the sisters of St Joseph and their convent in Buffalo New York. The altar was only about 6ft wide but was beautifully carved. It took some time and in agreement with the current owners we found a new Catholic Church for it to be in South Dakota. They refinished it and use it as their high altar. Its an incredible story of coming full circle. But after leaving in the 1970s as a church altar, going into a home and used as a bar and finally returning as an altar for many more years. It was a good salvage story.
