Complete Set of Belgium Stations of the Cross Rare
Complete and impressive set of 14 Stations of the Cross. Very large model in oak. We purchased these 3 years ago from an antique dealer in Belgium. He purchased them from the estate of another dealer that were kept in storage for many years. They were originally displayed in a church in Belgium that was destroyed during the second world war. They date from the early 19th century, 1820 to 1850. The frames have been restored to the extent that we felt was necessary with many smaller parts being replicated and replaced. The art has not been restored, only cleaned. Art is all original oil and painted on a metal material which appears to be zinc. The oils are stable and not flaking. Several of the pieces have surface scratches and many show signs of tiny to small rust spots that are only on the surface. Station V has faded colors. In spite of those conditions they are extremely impressive, full of color and when hung and viewed from a few feet away show very well. Additional pictures available, please contact us. DIMENSIONS: Width: 28 Inches Height:Includes crucifix 64 Inches Depth: 4 1/2 Inches. Art is 30 3/4 high x 20 wide.
