+ This is an older very rare statue of "St. Peter Chanel" a French Marist priest who was the first martyr in the mission in Oceania. The Marists had been given a large part of the South Pacific as a mission field in 1836. In November, 1837, he and a Marist brother were dropped off on the island of Futuna in the South Pacific, along with a Marist brother. He was killed in 1841 on the island of Futuna.
