ALVA, OK. The main altar was salvaged from a used furniture store in Detriot, Mi. The main altar came to us without a top, we found it in a used furniture in Detriots west side. After a complete rebuild and refinishing we turned this priceless carved artifact into a special treasure for Sacred Heart Church in Alva Ok. This altar design immediately enhanced the original spanish baroque architecture of the church and inspired the design and build of two matching side altars. of course, our custom painted statues adorn the side altar niches as a complete restoration of the churches original features. It was a simple ad I found about a liquor store going out of business. I follow going out of business sales for at the architectural pieces sometimes left behind for decoration. This particular liquor store had a complete gorgeous solid oak high altar displayed as a bar inside its store. It was a product of 1850s fine craftsmanship. It was built in the romanesque style with carved ques at the capitols and burled book matched wood work at the central niches. Sadly some way through time the tabernacle highly carved and ornate was lost. However 90% of the altar was there and was currently restored to a new church in Ohio. I considered it the finding of the lost ark. As the beauty was absolutely one of a kind along with the 1st generation cut wood that beautified the architecture. IT was saved returned to use and now its history can continue. The weddings, the first communions and adoration of its grand structure can continue.
